AI & Recording Notice

Vocallie is an AI voice-agent service. Calls placed or answered through Vocallie are handled by a large language model that speaks with the caller in real time. This page explains what that means for you and the people you call, and how our recording controls work.

1. You are speaking with AI

By default, our agents announce that the caller is speaking with an AI assistant at the beginning of the call. This behaviour is baked into the platform — customers can adjust the exact wording, but the disclosure itself is on by default because many jurisdictions require it (for example, several US states, the EU AI Act, and India’s DPDP Act).

2. Recording & transcription

When recording is enabled on a phone number, calls are recorded and transcribed for summary, follow-up, and quality purposes. The agent audibly discloses that the call is being recorded at the start of the call. Recordings are stored in Cloudflare R2 and are available to the account owner from the dashboard.

3. Who is responsible

The Vocallie customer (the business whose agents are on the line) is the data controller for calls placed or answered on their behalf. They are responsible for obtaining any consent required by local law before initiating a call, and for making sure the recording and AI disclosures remain enabled where their jurisdiction requires them. Vocallie acts as their processor.

4. How the AI decides what to say

  • Each customer configures their agent’s role, voice, and knowledge base. The AI draws on these — plus prior conversation with the caller — to respond.
  • Vocallie provides guardrails (safety filters, action approval, healers that verify bookings) to reduce hallucinated answers, but no AI is perfect. Customers are responsible for reviewing outcomes that matter (bookings, quotes, promises).
  • The AI does not have access to sensitive systems it has not been given. It cannot browse the internet or read your other private data unless you provide it as a tool or in the knowledge base.

5. Model providers

The current AI provider is Google (Gemini). Real-time media is routed through LiveKit. See the sub-processor list for details. We may add or change model providers over time; we will keep the sub-processor page up to date.

6. Requesting a human

Callers can ask to speak to a human at any time. Where the customer has configured a warm-transfer target, the agent will connect the caller to a human on their team; where they have not, the agent will offer a callback and log the request in the customer’s dashboard.

7. Contact

If you were called by a Vocallie-powered agent and want to know which business is behind the call, or want your number removed from that business’s contact list, write to [email protected] with the phone number and the approximate date and time. We will identify the customer and pass on your request.
